Hydrogen Peroxide Transfer System

Parent Previous Next

This modified airplane has a transfer system incorporated in the hydrogen peroxide propellant feed systems to provide a means of transferring hydrogen peroxide from the engine turbopump propellant tank to the APU and ballistic control propellant tanks after engine shutdown. Transfer may be accomplished whenever one or both hydrogen peroxide low caution lights [31, fig. 5-1] come on.

Hydrogen Peroxide Transfer Switch

The hydrogen peroxide transfer switch [24, fig. 5-1], labeled "H2O2 TRANS," is on the upper right side of the instrument panel. It has three positions: ON, OFF, and an unmarked center neutral position.

When the switch is at ON, primary DC bus power opens a solenoid-operated transfer valve and allows flow of hydrogen peroxide from the engine turbopump tank to the APU tanks. The switch will return to the spring-loaded center position when released, leaving the valve in the desired position. To stop transfer of hydrogen peroxide, the switch is placed at OFF.
